I introduce you here a small format from early 2018 : "Along with water"
I wanted to create a collection to apply for a special small format exhibition and I wanted a common thread for these paintings.
I've always been attracted by the theme of the elements, they show up regularly in my work.
I discovered the representation of elements in Chinese culture: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.
Then other reflections as usual followed.
"Along with water" represents the water element.
We say and hear a lot about "let it go", "take it easy" and so on but it has been just recently that in my own life this has sorted of became a bit more clear.
When water flows even in a calm way is still powerful. It can still model even hard stones.
When I feel the need to let go something, even just in my own mind, the image of water comes up like an inspiration.
Kind of showing me that this is the path.
Over having control all the time which is stressful and impossible and even insane I choose calm, flowing and trust.
Even if I have a particular attraction for the sea when I figure out these feelings is the stream that pops out.
The woman figure wants recall essential values and feelings.
Whet is really important.
She trusts the water and she's not afraid of let herself go in the small passage between rocks (rocks that are still beautiful)
She trusts herself in the flow, trusts her path and her final destination even along the travel.
This painting has been realized on canvas board, a nice rigid support
It measures 20 cm by 20
I like the idea that we can choose to hang it or put it near us
I used solvent inks and acrylic for colors as well as felt pens and black pen. Certain outlines are relieved by what is called a relief.
It is protected by a gloss varnish.
He does not fear the light and does not need a particular maintenance, we just dust it off preferably with a soft feather duster
Medium: inks, acrylics, marker pens and final gloss varnish on canvas board around 3mm deep (nice and hard support)
Ready to hang right out of package
Signed and dated on the back
Coa is provided
